The Japanese voice actors do a tremendous job bringing their characters to life. Voice Acting and Soundtrack: (Subbed) 9.15 Give it a chance, the style works for what the anime attempts to do, and it is consistent throughout. Long story short, don’t toss this anime into the wind because it doesn’t look like Bleach or Naruto.
Rarely do the character models look off, even within choppy dialogue scenes. Despite the unique drawing style, Hajime no Ippo is consistent in how the world is portrayed. The style is so awkward, that it may turn off viewers before they give the anime a real chance I advice them not to. But since the characters spend most of their time doing some form of boxing, your eye forgives it.įirst, the style of drawing used is not main stream. The Frame Rate becomes choppy, and obviously noticeable. When the characters aren’t boxing or training, the animation dwindles in quality. The only weakness in the animation is found in lesser scenes. Granted, the boxing maneuvers within this Anime are greatly exaggerated – but that is assumed with most Anime. After all, quality animation is essential for boxing to be remotely believable, from training to actual matches, the character’s move with believability and authenticity. What’s more, the action scenes are top notch – on par with even those found within Anime films such as Sword of the Stranger. Overall, Hajime no Ippo is a surprising step above most anime when it comes to consistent, smooth, animation. This is both the strength and weakness of this Anime. It means you have something you can enjoy dialoging about. – In short, ratings are an educated opinion, if you don’t agree with them it doesn’t mean you have an enemy. – Rating is also made with a worldview, and thereby may be disagreed with outright. – Rating is made with the attempt to be as unbiased as possible. – Rating is absolutely opinion based, there is to panel of voters here. Even if you’re not into boxing, this Anime is more exciting and engaging than most, and definitely worth your time.

He is bullied, he is isolated, and through a series of events, he eventually finds himself in a boxing gym.
The Anime revolves around a nervous, shy high school boy named Makunouchi Ippo. I’m not one for spoilers, so let’s keep this simple and sweet. But, the reality is I find it fun, and it at least gives a sense of what the Anime is about. A number can’t define any piece of film, and I fear it pigeon holes the work. Now, I admit some discomfort in using a simple scoring system. Along with this pastime, I began to take personal notes on what I thought of each Anime – documenting its overall quality, and then giving it a median score based on animation, drawing consistency, voice acting/ sound track, OST, and finally story quality. It is a genre of television and film which is quite unlike any other. One of my favorite pastimes is watching Anime.
